Secondary Photography

Ages 12 - 14

If your child is an experienced photographer to a total beginner, they can further develop their camera skills with a range of new techniques and skills. Using whatever camera device they have, students will learn how to adjust the technical settings on their camera, and composition guides to take great photos.

This course spans 15 hours, 1.5 hours a week for 10 weeks.

Secondary Photography will be running in Term 2, 11am (AWST).

Course costs $199 for the term. Courses are group sessions of 2-5 students.


Requirements:

To capably complete this course, students will need:

  • A device with Internet connection

  • Whatever camera you have available- DSLR or digital camera, mobile phone or tablet. You do need to be able to upload some of the photos you have taken onto your device

  • PowerPoint or similar (Keynote, Google Slides, etc.) on the device


Curriculum areas covered:

  • Media skills and techniques for a specific purpose

  • Representations and values

  • Planning, design and presenting for a specific audience

  • Using technical, symbolic and composition skills

  • Analysing media works to explore viewpoints

By the end of this course, students will have a portfolio of over thirty of their best photos, and a photography response document.

Weekly themes

Each program consists of its own weekly theme, so that your child has something new to anticipate with each coming week.

 

Supplies you own

You’ll be able to utilise or recycle supplies you already have at home to complete lesson activities. We’ll provide you with alternative options as well.

 

Hands-on activities

Our activities are designed to keep your child engaged, whether it’s learning how to photograph a sports game or light a portrait.
